Moste Effective Linking Strategy For Traffic?

August 4, 2009 by Phil

Hi.
Does anyone have any experience with linking for traffic purposes? (not SEO, though that’s a nice extra).
I’m not too concerned with the SEO benefits…I’m interested in what types of links have brought you the most traffic directly from the links themselves. I’m trying to optomize my time spent here….
Thanks in advance!

I’ve gotten quite a few hits from:
    Stumble
    Digg story
    Yell
    CSSBeauty
However, most of these did not convert into real sales/business. They were merely people browsing, not buying.
The best traffic that has actually converted has come from pay per click campaigns with targeted keyword phrases, and from eBay/Amazon referrals where we put links into our auction ads.

The best linking strategy is no reciprocal links.
whatever you do, do not go after links that are 2 way.
the best traffic i get is from industry related links. People on those web sites / web pages are interseted in my services and are not just “browsing”. it is better to have 10 links on industry related web sites then 1000 all over the place.
