I have been thinking a failure at a nuclear facility or air traffic control system or banking system might be areas where this could happen but can’t find specific examples.

Is it not like the damages the film, music and software industry claim they suffer due to piracy? If piracy was not possible, all these illegal films/music/software would just not be purchased legally, at least not that much. If there were no traffic jams we would all be home earlier, but would the economy really benefit as much as some studies claim?
